Step 1: Prepare the Watermelon

  1. Place one half cut-side down on the cutting board and cut it in half again, creating four large quarters when both halves are done.
  2. Cut each quarter in half again to make eight thick wedges.
  3. Place wedges with the rind facing you and the flesh on the cutting board.
  4. Cut each wedge into ½-inch thick triangle-shaped slices.
  5. For smaller pieces, cut each triangle in half.
