Ingredients

Burger Patties

  • 1 lb. ground chicken (Springer Mountain Farms recommended)
  • 1 tsp. jalapeño, finely diced
  • 1 tsp. red onion, finely diced
  • 1 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. chili powder
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. dried cilantro
  • ½ egg (crack 1 egg, whisk, then divide in half)
  • 1 ½ tbsp. almond flour
  • ½ lime, juiced
  • 1 tsp. olive oil

Optional Toppings

  • Pico de gallo
  • Jalapeño avocado lime aioli
  • Bacon
  • Cheese
  • Lettuce
  • Jalapeños

Instructions

1. Preheat Grill

Preheat your grill to 375-400°F for optimal cooking.

2. Prepare the Chicken Patties

  1. In a small bowl, combine all dry seasonings: smoked paprika, cumin, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and dried cilantro.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, almond flour, whisked egg, lime juice, dry seasonings, diced onion, and jalapeño. Mix thoroughly using your hands or a pair of nitrile gloves to ensure all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape them into burger patties. Use your thumb or a spoon to create a small indent in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

3. Grill the Chicken Burgers

  1. Once the grill reaches temperature, place the patties on the grill.
  2. Lightly brush the top of each patty with olive oil using a pastry brush.
  3. Close the grill lid and cook for 5 minutes per side.
  4. Flip the burgers, brush the other side with olive oil, and grill for another 4-5 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the patties reaches 165°F.

4. Rest and Serve

Remove the patties from the grill and transfer them to a plate. If any juices are released, brush them over the patties for extra flavor. Add your favorite toppings and enjoy!

  • Grill Prep: Preheat your grill thoroughly to avoid sticking and ensure even cooking.
  • Thermometer Check: Use a meat thermometer to ensure the patties reach 165°F for safe consumption.

Variations and Substitutions

  • No Grill?: Cook the patties on a stovetop griddle or in a nonstick skillet over medium heat.
  • Low-Carb: Serve wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun.
  • Gluten-Free: These burgers are naturally gluten-free, thanks to almond flour.

A: Yes! Ground turkey or lean beef can be substituted for ground chicken.

Q: How do I prevent sticking on the grill?
A: Ensure the grill grates are clean and lightly oiled before placing the patties.

Q: Can I freeze these patties?
