This berry puff pastry tart features flaky, golden puff pastry topped with creamy whipped cream cheese and fresh blueberries and raspberries arranged in a patriotic pattern. Perfect for Fourth of July celebrations, summer parties, or easy dessert recipes, this fresh fruit tart combines simple ingredients for a visually stunning and flavorful treat. The recipe includes tips for perfect puff pastry, variations with different berries, and advice on making ahead for convenient entertaining.

Ingredients:

  • 8 ½ oz puff pastry sheet, thawed according to package instructions
  • 6 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup blueberries
  • 2 cups raspberries

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. While the puff pastry thaws, place it on a lightly floured surface lined with parchment or a silicone mat. Roll the dough into a 10×12-inch rectangle.
  2. Transfer the dough with parchment onto a baking sheet. Using a pizza cutter or knife, score a ½-inch border around the edges without cutting all the way through to create a raised crust when baked.
  3. Prick the center of the dough (inside the border) all over with a fork to prevent puffing. Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and allow to cool completely.
  4. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract on high speed until smooth and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly inside the cooled puff pastry border, keeping the edges clean for a neat look.
  6. Arrange blueberries and raspberries on top in a flag-inspired pattern. Optionally, dust the tart with extra powdered sugar before serving.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to serve. The tart is best eaten within one day to keep berries fresh.
